My Dear Talebones Community,
After reviewing the pieces sent in to our Founder’s Week Fan Art contest, I am pleased to announce that we have a winner!
Drumroll please…
Grand Prize
LoriAnn Weldon is our Grand Prize Winner!
LoriAnn (who requested not to have her Substack handle included here) sent us these beautiful pieces with the following description:
A tetraptyc, or collection of four images, representing the four main settings of the Ferris Island series: the Sea, the Orchard, the Laboratory, and the Forest. They're done as digital art in a papercut style, using some stock art but a lot of original illustrations as well. (I'm particularly proud of how the fishmaid and Druid turned out.) I envision these almost as in-universe postcards or posters (assuming people actually knew about Druid) or as movie-poster-style promo pieces.
So much thought went into these, and I’m so excited to feature them!
LoriAnn has won:
Her art featured on a limited-edition piece of Ferris Island merchandise with full credit (details TBA in our Fall Season!)
One free piece of Ferris Island merchandise of her choice
A full-year comped Talebones Archive membership
Honorable Mentions
I also want to thank and (who collaborated on a piece) as well as for sending in their wonderful art!
For their bravery, skill, and good humor, I’m pleased to give each of them a comp to Talebones and a piece of free merch, as well! It takes a lot of courage to put yourself out there, and I am so honored that they sent in their work.
Thank you to all to participated, and to all who considered it!
What’s Next?
And with that, we bid a fond farewell to August and Founder’s Week and turn our attention to the Fall Season!
Keep your eyes peeled for new aesthetic changes on the Talebones homepage (sharp eyes may have already spotted our new colors and branding!) as well as anthology publication details, site-wide admin, and a Fall/Winter merch drop which will include LoriAnn’s fabulous designs!
All the love, everyone, and have a fantastic weekend!
The other day you mentioned that you only had three participants for this... but what a winner! 👏
These are great. Especially love Druid!
