I adore the way she talks to the tree. It feels right.

Sally! I should have been emotionally prepared, but I wasn’t! 😭

Also, those groans of pain toward the end have me pretty nervous for Sayblood. 😬😅

Sayblood, suddenly and in this conversation, reminds me of Lucy Pevensie -- maybe what Lucy would have been if she'd grown up alone and unloved. Just as fierce, just as true, but unconvinced that she means as much to anyone as they mean to her. And, of course, she speaks to the trees and they hear her.

I wish Sayblood could meet Aslan. I think he would call her Daughter, in a way that One Prince never could.

This is such an interesting tale… I am very new to Ferris Island (I think this is my first serial of yours I’ve read as it was published) and I understand it is a prequel of sorts, but I don’t feel lost — so good job lol

It seemed like I didn't even breathe until the end of this chapter. Powerful writing.

If a tree talked to me like that I couldn't do it; I love trees enough already, and this breaks my heart. Oh man.

There are tears in my eyes! Oh, Sally, this is so wrenching. The apple tree’s grief is unbearable, and Sayblood forced to run is heartbreaking. This story has me firmly in its clutches!

S.E., this episode really ratchets up the anxiety and tension for me...edge of the seat with Sayblood going off into the woods with no blessing from the old apple tree and without saying goodbye to Othneil!!! And carrying not just one child, but children that she doesn't anticipate...
