when starting a new relationship, there's an awkward stage as both parties get to know each other. Is this the furtive dance of the beginning stage of a relationship between the spirit of graft creek and Cal the writer?

this is awful. In a good way, but...awful. Suspense always makes me suffer, this is terrible. Good luck, Cal.

Was surprised to see the story leave the retreat even briefly, but guess this confirms no Rip van Winkle type activity. Definitely noticing some rather mechanical language in Cal's thoughts about writing contrasted with how mystical the retreat is.
