Welcome back to Talebones Tuesday!
(the missive formerly known as “The Weekly”)
This weekly(ish) digest is the way I communicate with my readers to let them know what’s been going on around the Talebones landscape, along with any housekeeping to be aware of.
Despite most of my work happening behind the scenes this past week, we still have a small round-up to report! It’s a good time to highlight some of the happenings and goings-on around here…
Let’s get to it!
Looking for an editor, beta reader, proofreader, or copywriter? Look no further!
Check out my Work With Me page for rates and services. Don’t see something that works for you? Reach out via email or DM—I’m happy to discuss.
Let’s make your projects sing!
Round-Up!
In case you missed it…
The Wager - in this piece of experimental flash fiction, Polly Welkin finds herself on a mysterious poplar-lined road, trying to convince a stranger to turn around. (This tale may be part of a larger tapestry to come, so if you like it, please do let me know!)
- is a dear Substack friend who is applying his expertise to building an incredibly useful resource on his newsletter all about the intersection between fiction and tech, and how fiction writers can leverage platforms and features to their advantage. He recently hosted myself and the talented for an episode of his podcast where we discussed fiction on Substack, serialization, inspiration, story structure, and all kinds of good things! It was such a fun conversation, and I loved “talking shop” with these two fabulous folks!
Fall Season Info - Talebones is now officially in our Fall Season, which includes a hiatus from longform stories and quite a bit of admin (with exciting potential results!). If you haven’t already, check out the previous issue of Talebones Tuesday for more details about what to expect during this three-month period.
TALESTACK NEWS is a twice-monthly bulletin of Substack fiction news where I collate as many announcements, projects, submissions opportunities, community endeavors, and generally cool things as I can gather. Check out the most recent issue here! (And if you’re a writer on the platform, check out the submission guidelines and email your news to talestack.editor@gmail.com by September 15th to be included in the next issue!)
REMINDER: On September 17th, the second season of Freelance and Fishmaids will head behind the paywall! If you’d like to catch up and/or read through while it’s free, jump in today!
Rate Increase
On September 17th, the Talebones paid membership price will rise to $3.75/month or $45/year to reflect both my blossoming portfolio of paywalled stories, as well as the things I feel I’m able to offer now that I couldn’t before.
If you are ALREADY a paid subscriber, you are locked in to the current lower rate and it will NOT change for you!
If you’d like to lock in to the current rate of $2.50/month and $30/year, upgrade now!
Thank you for reading!
All kinds of fun things are brewing here at Talebones HQ…
For example, I recently printed a prototype hoodie with the new Talebones logo…so comfy! So cozy! Perfect for all your spookiest adventures, this fall!
Designs like this one will be available soon when our Fall/Winter collection drops at the Ferris Island Gift Shop. Until then, snag your summer wares: hats, mugs, shirts, and more!
Have a lovely week, friends, and more fiction fun soon!
Your grateful storyteller,
🥰🥰🥰
Love the aesthetic updates both here and at the Wildroot Parables!
