Welcome back to Talebones Tuesday!
This weekly(ish) digest is the way I communicate with my readers to let them know what’s been going on around the Talebones landscape, along with any housekeeping to be aware of.
Can you feel it, my friends? Can you feel the spooky vibes??
Even if it doesn’t feel like fall where you live, you can still grab a little piece of Ferris Island’s autumnal goodness with this year’s Spooky Season Merch Collection!!

Round-Up!
In case you missed it…
The Orchard Hounds ebook - The very first Ferris Island short story collection is now available in ebook form! While a paperback edition is still on the way, you can snag your digital copy here or explore which thirteen stories are included.
The Fair Folk - in this Gothic two-parter set in Ferris Island’s past, Dr. Kenneth Strand’s jealousy of his younger brother leads him into a dark supernatural bargain. But who has he really dealt with? And can they be trusted?
TALESTACK NEWS is a twice-monthly bulletin of Substack fiction news where I collate as many announcements, projects, submissions opportunities, community endeavors, and generally cool things as I can gather. Check out the most recent issue here! (And if you’re a writer on the platform, check out the submission guidelines and email your news to talestack.editor@gmail.com by October 20th to be included in the next issue!)
Mysterious Merch and Macabre Mugs!
First of all, I want to thank you all for hyping the merch part of the Talebones tapestry! I know it’s not everyone’s preferred way to interact with my work, and I also know (believe me, I know) that money is tight these days, but I so appreciate every ounce of support, from actual purchases and product reviews to kind comments to shares and restacks. Even “favoriting” the shop on Etsy is a helpful gesture and gives me a boost! It all means more than you know. Big, big thank you.
And now, on to the swag!
I had a couple of goals with this merch drop: feature cold-weather clothing items, like hoodies and pullovers, as well as mugs for cozy beverage sippin’. And, since it’s October after all, I wanted to include as many haunted little details as I could.
Let me introduce you to our cast of characters!
(Or, head straight to the shop with the button below!)
The Ferris Island Souvenir Group (Redesigned!)
This is our flagship Ferris Island collection, but I’ve given it a little redesign to be a bit more classic and easily wearable! This group will always be available in the shop year-round, but three Hallowe’en shirt/hoodie colors—pumpkin orange, bright (Irish) green, and purple—are Limited Edition through November 1st!
The Talebones Logo Group
Are you a regular Talebones reader? We appreciate you! And now you can wear the fandom on your proverbial sleeve with these Talebones logo designs! This group will also be a permanent fixture in our shop and available year-round.
The Seasonal Special Edition Group
These seasonal editions are for the Freelance and Fishmaids fans! Inspired by loyal-reader
’s desire to have a Princess of the Weathers sweatshirt of her very own, we have two seasonal designs: the Princess of the Weathers CREW design (based on Sara’s own mockup!), and a fun little Scully the Ghost-Hunting Camera design, featuring a handful of dancing ghosties.BONUS: Macabre Mugs!
And finally, just for fun, here are three BONUS spooky-season mugs! These designs aren’t directly connected to Ferris Island, although the spirit (lol) is certainly there. There are three designs in this group: the Woodland Watcher, the Rowan Ghost, and the Haunted Hallway. (NOTE: The “Rowan Ghost” and “Haunted Hallway” both have designs that wrap all the way around the mug, so be sure to check out the listing on Etsy to see more photos of the full effect!)
Final Notes
COUNCIL MEMBERS: you can claim your exclusive 30% off discount code to the Gift Shop here!
I’ll spare you the finer details of my brain, but this drop signifies a slight change in the way we’re going to do merch drops in the future.
Summarized: two big drops will happen every year, in the Spring/Summer and in the Fall/Winter, and smaller limited-edition drops will happen as and when they arise. (For example, I have a handful of products I’m cooking up to celebrate The Orchard Hounds paperback edition, as well as the winner of our fan art contest this past summer. Details TBA.)
Seasonal designs will get cleaned out between each drop, so don’t dilly-dally too long in snagging your faves!
That said, certain fan favorites may come back in future drops, so don’t be shy in letting me know which ones you love.
Lastly, folks who have visited the store before may notice a slight shift in the pricing with this collection, both up and down. Gelato—the company I use to print my designs and fulfill orders—is always adjusting their pricing based on the ups and downs of manufacturing. For example, the 11-ounce mugs recently went DOWN in production price (hooray!) while certain garments went up (grrrr). Regardless, my promise to you is to keep my prices as low and reasonable as I can, taking into account both shipping costs and my own need to make a wee profit on top.
Ultimately, the goal of the Gift Shop isn’t solely to make money. The goal is to spread the Ferris Island love, fun, and fandom around in as many unique and enjoyable ways as I can. That makes it all worthwhile!
Ready to meet the Collection in person?!
