Dear Reader…
Happy July, and welcome back to Talebones Weekly, where I keep you up to date with all the Talebones happenings!
This week’s issue is going to be short and sweet as I catch you up on all the stuff you may or may not have missed last week when Talebones Weekly was on hiatus. It’s a very practical bulletpointed missive this week, so let’s dive in!
NOTE: There will be no advanced excerpt of Ivy & Ixos in today’s missive, as I didn’t have time to polish one up to my satisfaction. But rest assured, this week’s issue will go out to you as planned!
In Case You Missed It…
Last Week
The Revelation of Scott Candle, our July Tale, dropped on Tuesday! In this suspenseful story, a megachurch pastor meets his match on an ill-fated book tour.
On Friday, Ivy visited The Ferris Island Oddities Museum and got a much-needed dose of hope in our Summer Serial, Ivy & Ixos!
Over The Weekend
Inspiration struck, and I posted a one-off piece of flash fiction called Tilford Till and the Highway Haunting, in which a shuttle bus driver encounters a mysterious late-night passenger.
After a few readers expressed curiosity about the unfolding world of Ferris Island, I decided to create an easy master list of Ferris Island stories! You can find the Ferris Island Index in the Talebones navigation bar (as shown below).
Coming Up…
Issue Six of Ivy & Ixos will land in your inboxes at 7am PST on Friday, so make sure you’re caught up!
I’m working on an article outlining some of the things that being a freelancer has taught me about writing fiction. If you’re curious about that, stay tuned!
Also…I may have another piece of flash fiction in mind for this week. Keep your eyes peeled for inspiration striking again in a few days!
Phew!
There, I think we’re all caught up from last week!
Thanks for sticking around through this very brass-tacks edition of Talebones Weekly, and I’m looking forward to another fun summer month of fiction with you!
Have a lovely week!

Any other Chronicles of Prydain fans here? I didn’t read the books until I was an adult, but still, Eilonwy is who I want to be when I grow up...
Favorite fictional world: it's really hard to pick, but I remember one of the first times I really felt like I fell in love with a fictional place, and that was listening to Rob Inglis' narration of The Fellowship of the Ring, specifically when they made it to Lothlorien. Wonderful place, that.
Also, I wouldn't mind visiting Redwall Abbey, although it's been a minute since I read one of those. Also, Salamandastron, same series. Also, the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, before the Empire and all that. Also... well, anyway.
