Why am I not surprised that Ferris Island has a haunted lighthouse?

What it needs now is a calendar with pictures of same. :)

Absolutely beautiful S.E.! Her goddess presence was felt from beginning to end. And such a capper with the Historical Note to lighten the agony at the end.

A gripping story! Lighthouses are both a saving beacon and an eerie presence.

This was so cool. I love lighthouses and wish I lived closer to the coast so I could do some day trips. Id have to drive all the way to Maine to see them. Thank you for writing and I love the historical notes. Before I even got to the end, I could tell from your writing that this may have been the product of a "historical reading rabbit hole." Well done!

I'm so glad this story exists. Why aren't there more stories about lighthouses? They creep me out so much! The isolation is enough to drive anyone mad, which is just fodder for horror, isn't it??

So cool! Love how a lighthouse can elicit dread like this. Also that, for me at least, it was ambiguous whether he was just crazy or if there supernatural things happening.

What a terrifying and beautiful tale! Any tale of the sea is dear to my heart, and lighthouses do indeed possess spirits of flame, even in our modern age.

I'm in love with anything that combines lighthouses with horror. I loved this story. Have you seen the film "The Vanishing" (2018) inspired by the true story of 3 lighthouse keepers who disappeared in a bad storm off the coast of Scotland? It is SO depressing and just keeps getting more and more so, but what an amazing film.

This was atmospheric, haunting, tragic. I can't compliment it enough. You captured the isolation beautifully.
