Dear Reader…
Welcome back!
It’s another short and sweet one, this week, with a quick little roundup AND our final FREE gift of Archived content!
Without further ado, let’s get started!
Weekly Round-Up!
In Case You Missed It…
The Orientation - in this flash fiction we find a strange tale from Ferris Island’s past, as told by grocery store assistant manager Hank, in the midst of a new hire orientation.
This tale was actually a rewrite/update of a very, VERY old story of mine - Archive Members will get a glimpse or two of the original in the upcoming Winter Seasonal Summary!
TALESTACK NEWS will return on February 5th! If you’re a Substack fiction writer, now would be a good time to reach out with your latest announcements! Click here for more information.
Freelance and Fishmaids, our 12-part episodic novella, is over halfway done! Here’s how you can get involved:

The next episode drops this Friday, so stay tuned!
Our Final FREE Gift!
This month, in honor of our recent subscriber milestone and the new year, I have been unlocking the paywall each week to let out an archived tale!
This week, we’re ending where everything began, for me: with the tale of a little girl named Ivy. This was my first-ever serial on Talebones, a fan favorite, and a story I hold very dear to my heart…I hope you enjoy it!
(Also…it’s the first story of mine up for physical and ebook publication. Stay tuned!)
Because it’s a longer tale, Ivy & Ixos will be available until FEBRUARY 6th - so don’t delay to get reading!
The Calendar:
UNTIL FEBRUARY 6th: Ivy & Ixos (serial novella) - the story of a ten-year-old girl, her estranged father, and a wild family secret
I hope you enjoy getting a glimpse into our Archive this month, and if you’re intrigued enough to become a paid member, I always appreciate the support!

The first month of 2024 is nearly over, and what a month it’s been!
I want to say a special thank you to the folks who joined us this month—especially during the wild first week—and decided to keep sticking with Talebones! It has been such a joy getting to know all of you better and better and seeing your wonderful comments come through!
Also: THANK YOU to our Archive Members who have funded so much of my ability to focus on fiction this month through paid subscriptions and tips! Every cent means more than I can say, and I am so incredibly humbled by the support. Storytelling is the only thing I’ve ever truly had a burning passion to do, and thanks to all of you—paid or not—I am the closest I have ever been to being able to do it as more than a private hobby. No words can express how that makes me feel.
Blessings to all, and see you in February!
Your grateful storyteller,
It surely has been a great month for fiction, S.E.! And it's wonderful that so many others are finding your talent, as I did about a year ago, always fun and always full of surprises! Anxiously awaiting developments with Ivy & Ixos!
