Dear Reader…
I can’t believe August is nearly over, can you?
In today’s post, we’re going to wrap up our summer with some last-minute stuff and prepare for a whole new Talebones season.
There will be no “The Weekly” next week, so read on to discover what’s in store for summer’s end!
Round-Up
In case you missed it…
The Last Resort - In this short story, two kids on the cusp of high school explore an old hotel with dark corners and an even darker secret.
I am so amazed to announce that The Orchard Hounds—my flash fiction about a young woman attempting a most unusual rescue—garnered an Honorable Mention from the Lunar Awards!
Ivy & Ixos Finale and Q&A
This Friday, the final issue and epilogue of Ivy & Ixos will drop, bringing Ivy’s tale to a close.
First of all, I want to thank each and every one of you. When I first toyed with the thought of posting a serial here on Substack, I had absolutely no idea what to expect.
I certainly did NOT expect so many people to stick with me through the entire twelve-issue arc!
All of your likes, comments, restacks, theories, tears, and celebrations have been an incredible source of inspiration and motivation for me through this process. But even to the lurkers in the audience who read but would rather not engage: thank you for being here. I can’t express enough how grateful I am to you all!
In the next issue, Ivy’s story will conclude with a brief epilogue, and after that I would love to have a little debrief with you.
On Friday I am going to answer any questions you have about Ivy & Ixos as a fun way to say goodbye to this particular tale!
If you have a question, leave it in the comment section below this post so that I can collect up the questions and answer them on Friday!
Coming Up…
Aug 25th: the finale of Ivy & Ixos
Aug 27th - Sept 2nd: I will be taking the week off from normal posting here on Talebones to prepare and open the Archive and prep for our Fall Season.
Sept 5th: our Fall Season begins!

No questions but I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for writing such a wonderful series 🥰 I’ve said it before and I feel it is worth saying again, you truly have a gift with words and I along with many others, am grateful that you chose to share your writing here on Substack with all of us ❤️
Where did the name Ixos come from, and is it related to Erin's name in any way?
