Ivy & Ixos: An Update (and an “oops”)
Okay, folks, I’m going to need your forgiveness, here…
As you probably know, I recently published a novella called Ivy & Ixos. First of all: THANK YOU to everyone who has purchased a copy and left a review! It means the most, in more ways than I can say.
I was made aware last week that there’s an error in the published book. The chapter heading for the final chapter before the Epilogue SHOULD be “Chapter Eleven”, but I listed it as “Chapter Twelve”, both in the Table of Contents and the actual chapter text.
The good news? There is NO CONTENT MISSING from the book. Even though this error makes it look like a chapter is missing, it’s not. It was just an unchecked chapter heading. Because of this, it’s likely that you could read through the story completely and not have noticed at all, which is the best-case scenario.
However, as an editor who takes a lot of pride in my work, leaving such an error in a printed book that you paid money for is not something I take lightly, and I want to make it right.
So here’s how we’ll do this:
If you purchased the ebook through Amazon, it should already be fixed. KDP is pretty quick with updates, so your Amazon ebook copy should say “Chapter Eleven” already. If it doesn’t, you might need to manually sync your device.
If you purchased the ebook through any other source, the update should be incoming. I’m not sure how long IngramSpark takes with ebook updates, but hopefully within the next week.
If you purchased a paperback and you want an error-free copy, email me! Go ahead and send a message to ferrisislandwa@gmail.com and please include a photo of the “Chapter Twelve” heading so I know you have a misprinted book. I will send you a replacement as soon as I can.
If you purchased a paperback and you want to keep it, go right ahead! As I said, the book is missing no content and can be read perfectly fine as-is. Besides, my family keeps telling me that when I’m famous those misprinted first editions might be worth something someday. 😂 (Joke.)
The paperback and ebook have both been fully updated on Amazon, so if you order today you should receive an error-free copy.
I apologize for any hassle that this might cause, folks! This mistake comes on the heels of some other significant errors that have ended up in my short fiction lately, and while I know that typos are normal, it matters very much to me that you as a reader are able to have as distraction-free an experience as possible when you’re reading my work.
It’s hard not to feel embarrassed about this, but hey…mistakes are usually a sign that I need to slow down and take a bit more care, so I’m going to take the hint.
Thank you for understanding!
Our Summer Serial Starts Friday!
